@CmanCorporations You could use one of the gym machines that pickup the chest strap signal. I’ve found the exercise machines are a little slower in calculating the HR than the watch.
The watch receives the signal sent by the chest strap. You could have the strap without the watch – but not the watch without the strap
@BIGPIMPINUPDANYC Right, Heart Touch is so you can check time from other workout related screens and not so you can switch screen to screen for metrics data – that takes buttons. Good point though.
@CmanCorporations Yes you need the chest strap. Of course it is made out of heart sensing fabric technology which is much more flexible and comfortable, plus lighter, than the old school plastic or rubber straps. We have tried other devices that attempt to get pulse from finger tips and other locations and have found them all to be much less accurate. The further away you get from the heart, the lower the electrical current becomes
This may be a stupid question, but do you need the chest strap for the watch to work? Can the watch gauge the heart rate without the chest strap?
Bought it thinking the ‘Heart Touch’, where to get a readout you bring your wrist with the watch on up to the chest sensor rather than touch the watch, switched between a display of either your heart rate or calorie count: it doesn’t, it gives you the time (???).
This feature was what swung it for me, wish I’d gone for the touch sensitive one by Sportline now.
